Governing Boards for Cauvery water to be constituted

The Tamil Nadu Government has approached the Supreme Court for a direction to form the governing bodies to oversee the last order passed by the Cauvery Tribunal. The government moved the Supreme Court asking to start proceedings to form the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC).
The request also asks the needful to be done by the end of April so that the water can be used during the irrigation season that starts in June. The Tribunal was of the view that these bodies would help setting up the appropriate mechanism and recommended its constitution with the powers, functions and roles clearly defined.
