The Directorate of Schools of the state government of Tamil Nadu has announced that all the schools functioning in Tamil Nadu must have government approval.
During last February, the Department of School Education sent notices to 366 privates schools (under CBSE and Matric syllabus) functioning in Tamil Nadu without government approval/ A penalty of up to Rs. 1 Lakh was also imposed.
2 months deadline was given for these schools to obtain government approval. Now, the Department of School Education has sent circulars again on this issue.
It has been emphasised that all the schools under state government syllabus, and the schools affiliated to other academic institutes must function only with proper government approval and then it is the prime responsibility of the Primary Education Officers.
The Directorate of School Education has ordered that the Primary Education Officers have been advised to find the schools functioning without approval and the details of those schools must be displayed on the school Notice Board.
