Chennai based Anna University is making news now. It is known that Anna University or AU is having some issues with the department of higher education. As a result of this, now AU has decided to have separate entrance examination for the post graduate courses that AU conducts in its campuses.
The important point to be noted here is till last year 2018 AU conducted Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test or TANCET and the candidates were admitted to several PG courses on the basis of their TANCET marks plus on the marks got in the GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is now revealed that the candidates would be admitted to the PG courses based on the Anna University Common Entrance Test or AUCET 2019.
The various courses available for the candidates at the university departments, constituent colleges and in the regional campuses are ME, M. Tech, M. Arch, M. Plan, MBA, MCA etc. According to an official belonging to the university, students who wished to join the affiliated private engineering colleges and government engineering colleges would have to appear for TANCET 2019.
On 22nd June 2019, Anna University would conduct entrance examination for admission to MCA, MBA etc and this is as per the new system. It is said that the syllabus for this entrance exam would be similar to GATE and the registration of the application would be done online. On 23rd June 2019, entrance exam would be conducted for PG courses such as ME, M. Tech, M. Arch and M. Plan etc.
The important information is the registration of application begins on 6th May 2019 and the last date for registration is 25th May 2019. It must be taken into account that AU vice-chancellor, Mr. M.K. Surappa, had resigned from the committee due to some differences of opinion over the reconstitution of TNEA. The point is DOTE would conduct online engineering counselling for the undergraduate admissions.
According to the source belonging to AU it is clear that following the reconstitution of TNEA, the committee of Tamil Nadu Common Admission or TANCA also changed the Directorate of Technical Education or DOTE and commissioner was made the co-chairman of the committee. It is important to note that PM K Leader, Mr. Ramdoss, condemned the announcement of separate exam for the university departments and constituent colleges and said it would create confusion. The information gathered is Mr. Ramdoss had called for the removal of Mr. Surappa as vice-chancellor.
