Bangalore, May 06, 2019 : The students of Canadian International School displayed some amazing works of art during Festival of the Arts event held at its campus. The event was a wonderful platform for students to unleash their creativity and experience new forms of art. Artists from various fields were invited to conduct workshops and share their knowledge. The event was a hub of creative synergy that was designed to create a festive event experience and community celebration. The fair had activities such as pottery,, film making, sculpture and hand-crafted goods, painting, puppet making, quilling, clay modelling, mask making etc. It also saw several performances that included Indian classical music, bollywood dance, Indian traditional music, film festival, visual & performing arts, drama performance and many more interesting events.
The student artists passionately poured their heart out and created canvases, colourful drawings pinned on the soft boards, and unique wall art with vibrant colours and brushstrokes. The students also witnessed some engaging performances by various groups with special costumes and fierce makeup which had the audience wanting more and more. The entire CIS community truly enjoyed the essence of art in every form. The festival also had a family BBQ with live music and delicious food.
"At the Festival of Arts this year, we held over 15 different workshops. We had over a hundred students attend workshops off campus too with leading artists around Bangalore. The festival continued with musical, theatre and visual art displays on campus for the whole community," said Ethan Salter, Visual Arts Teacher and IB Coordinator.
“It was a very colourful atmosphere at the festival. We got exposure to various forms of visual arts and different kind of artists, Indian music and dance. The festival also enhanced our bonding and we shared our joy with each other. It will be great fun to have more such events.” said Sayali Bramhe, a student at CIS.
“Festival of the Arts was one of the things that appealed to us when considering the next school for our children. That a school would encourage all students to participate in a variety of arts not only showed us the various talents amongst the students but the mediums were especially impressive in that there were traditional arts as well as international arts. To walk through the halls on the various days and hear our children talk about their art projects gave us a week of an amazing culture. We can’t wait to see what they produce next year!” said Colleen Currie, a parent.
“Our students are really creative and we encourage them to showcase their creativity by giving them opportunities to strive toward their potential. At CIS, we believe that the arts component in education is imperative towards the growth of students and to widen their horizons. Festival of Arts event demonstrated how artistically inclined our students are and it was a fabulous event to witness.” said Ms. Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, Canadian International School.
