The report in an English daily from Chennai that the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches to be held in Chennai will be shifted out has led to announcements from officials denying the statement. Officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) say that they have not received any directive from the Government to shift out the matches and that no decision has been taken yet.
An official from BCCI said, ‘I don`t know the source of that report… But it is surprising that newspaper should be saying this, instead of giving something positive to IPL fans. Even if the (state) government asks for the matches to be shifted, other ways can always be worked out.’
