Chintadripet in Chennai city is now making news for this amazing reason. On Monday, 1st July 2019, for about 10 hours of time power supply was not there in Chintadripet. It is revealed that a fire gutted the transformer and a false alarm about fire at the transformer hit power supply in the Taramani area for about 45 minutes in the afternoon.
The heavy power demand plus because of heat outside, the transformer present near the fish market in Chintadripet burst into flames. This was according to a senior official belonging to Tangedco.
There are many houses present near the transformer and the domestic waste plus the garbage from the fish market gets dumped around the transformer. People also burn the garbage near the transformer and this could have resulted in endangering the transformer. This was confirmed by another official belonging to Tangedco. The point to be noted is the real cause for the fire would be discovered soon.
Information collected is it took more than 10 hours of time to install a new transformer and to replace the gutted cables. At around 12:10 pm in Taramani in Chennai, a resident alerted the officials of Tangedco about the fire in the transformer at the junction of Ascendos and B.V. Koil Road. Power supply to the transformer was stopped immediately. The official spoke about how their fire team went to the place and found that the message that was sent to EB office in Taramani was not true.
It must be noted that there was no indication of fire in the transformer. Information is the team made a thorough check in the place. Power supply was restored again in 45 minute of time. This was as per an official. It is well known that Chintadripet is located on the southern banks of Cooum River and is one of the important localities in Chennai.
