The DMK MP from Chennai (south) Constituency, Thamizhachi Thangapandian, submitted a petition to the central government minister Piyush Goyal to expedite action on the Chennai Velacherry-St. Thomas Mount Flying Train project.
The Mass Rapid Transit System, called MRTS or the ‘flying train’ project in Chennai, started in 1995 and was extended till Velacherry.
Meanwhile, the activities on the expansion project of the flying train between Velachery and St. Thomas Mount initiated during the year 2008 have stopped and the project shelved over the last 11 years.
Presently, all the legal issues related to the project have now been resolved. Hence, South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian met the Central Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in person and submitted a petition to expedite this project from now.
