Modern working women hostel to come up in Chennai and in TN

To start modern working women hostel in Chennai as well as in TN, the state government had directed the social welfare department to form a SPV or Special Purpose Vehicle. Vadapalani in Chennai is very important locality and it is now brought out that first working women’s hostel would be coming up in this place. It is important to note that there would be totally 6 such hostels that would be coming up in the future.
The hostels are being planned in places such as Chennai, Hosur, Krishnagiri, Kancheepuram, Coimbatore and Trichy. Point to be noted is SPV (Tamil Nadu Working Women’s Hostel Corporation Ltd) would join hands with TNIFMC or Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Fund Management Corporation for the construction and working of these hostels in the above mentioned places.
Superb information is these upcoming hostels would be highly beneficial to all sections of the society unlike the present 28 hostels. It is well known that these present 28 hostels cater only to the economically backward sections of the society. For high income group, studio apartments would be provided and for the middle class group 2-bed sharing rooms would be provided. For those belonging to economically backward sections, 6 bed sharing rooms would be provided. This has been confirmed by an official belonging to social welfare department.
In the first step, a feasibility study to know about the demand for such hostels would be conducted in the above mentioned districts by the SPV. Then the number of beds as well as the infrastructure required would be arrived. One important piece of information is cross subsidy model has been planned and it is said that the state government would decide on the roommates. Information gathered is the dormitory rates would be low and the studio apartment would be costly. Facilities like crèche, modern gym, entertainment areas. CCTV cameras, Wi-Fi etc would be available in the hostels.
