The Supreme Court vacated its order to restrain the Ambassador of Italy to India from leaving India. The Court had ordered Mr. Daniele Mancini from leaving India on March 14th in the wake of two Italian marines not returning to the country to undergo a trial for murder. On Tuesday, the bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir vacated its order after the marines came back to India.
The Supreme Court also ordered the Centre to set up a special court to start the trial immediately.
Two Italian marines who were arrested for killing two fishermen off the coast of Kerala did not return to India after being allowed to go home to vote in Italy’s general election.
