Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar - teeming crowds of devotees during the weekends!

A large gathering of teeming devotees keep coming for the Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar on the 27th day today of Athi Varadhar Darshan festival (Saturday, 27th July). The district administration has further strengthened the security arrangements!
Lord Athi Varadhar festival is in progress at the temple of Lord Varadaraja Swmain in Kanchipuram district. The deity of Lord Athi Varadhar kept always underwater, is taken out only once in 40 years offering Darshan for the devotees for a period of 48 days! Due to the limited period of Darshan, tens of thousands of teeming devotees keep gathering every day with increasing devotee crowds by the day!
Today, Saturday 27th July is the 27th Day of the festival. The deity of the Lord Athi Varadhar is adorned with blue silk clothing and the Lord offers Darshan to the devotees. As today is the start of the 2-day weekend, the crowd level of the devotees is even more!
Devotees start gathering standing in line from as early as the previous midnight 12.00 waiting for the Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar! There is a very long line of the queue for a distance of 2.5 km of the devotees!
As there are teeming crowds of devotees, heavy security arrangements have been made.
Further, special arrangements have been made for the senior citizens, pregnant women, and young children for their Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar!
