The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of rain in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu.

In recent times, there were scattered rains in a few places in the regions adjacent to the Western Ghat mountain range but even this has reduced considerably now.

It rained intermittently in the past few days in the northern districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai. This brought down the impact of oppressive summer heat quite considerably! Further, the groundwater levels also increased. However, the rainfall was not sufficient enough to bring water to the water reservoirs and lakes.

Thus, the public has once again been constrained to anxiously wait for the nest rains! In this situation, there are prospects of rain due to the convective rain phenomenon.

An official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre shared in this regard:
As convective rain phenomenon has developed over the northern districts of Tamil Nadu, there are prospects of rain in 1 or 2 places in the 12 districts of Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Trichy, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Madurai, Salem, Dharmapuri, Thanjavur, and Puduhukkottai. There are prospects of rain in Puducherry and Karaikkal as well!

The Chennai Metro City will remain generally cloudy. There are prospects of mild rain in a few places in the city.

The extent of average rain has been less this year as well! It did not rain as per the expected extents.
