Increased penalties for violation of traffic rules implemented from 15th August!

The details of the revised penalties

| Indulging/participating in races | 500 | 5000 |
| Driving without a permit for the vehicle | 5000 | 10000 |
| Overloading | 2000 | 20000 |
| Taking more passengers | - | 1000 |
| Not wearing the seat belt | 100 | 1000 |
| 3-persons riding in 2-wheelers | 100 | 1000 |
| Not wearing helmet | 100 | 1000 |
| Driving a vehicle without insurance cover | 1000 | 2000 |
| Childre driving vehicles | - | 25000 |
Further, in case it is established that the traffic officials who imposed these penalties are caught violating these traffic rules, the penalty will be double!
The Police Department of the Chennai Metro City has informed that the penalties, revised as above, have been implemented from yesterday (Thursday, 15th August).
