Prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in 7 districts in Tamil Nadu sue to the convective rain phenomenon.

The official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained on Saturday (31st October):

‘There were prospects of mild rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, 2nd September due to the convective rain phenomenon.  There are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places. Especially, there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Salem, Namakkal, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, and Erode.

There is a conducive environment in the areas of south Arabian Sea, Maldives, a few parts of Kanyakumari ocean, and a few parts in the Bay of Bengal facilitating the commencement of the southwest monsoon rainy season in the next 48 hours.`

Temperature crosses 100 Degrees Fahrenheit in 13 places

A maximum temperature of 108 Degrees Fahrenheit was recorded at Tiruthani and Vellore. The temperature recorded in other places in Degrees Fahrenheit: Trichy and Chennai Nungambakkam – 105, Chennai Meenambakkam and South Madurai – 104, Madurai Airport – 103, Cuddalore, Nagappattinam, Palayamkottai, and Salem – 102, Namakkal – 101, Parangippettai – 100.

Rainfall recorded in mm as at 8.30 AM on Saturday, 31st October: Ketti, Nilgiri District – 40, Usilampatti, Madurai – 30, Aranthangi, Pudhukkottai District and Kodaikanal, Dindigul District, and Madurai Airport – 20, Periyaru, Madurai District, Sivagiri, Thirunelveli District – 10.
