Tamil Nadu Chief Election Officer, Satyaprada Sahu, explained in detail yesterday (Wednesday, 4th September) regarding the procedure of how to make corrections in the personal data entered in the voters’ list. He observed:

‘A new App facility has been introduced to facilitate the voters to carry ut the corrections in the personal data by themselves! This new App has been in operation from 1st September.

This App can be downloaded to the smart mobile phone from the website NVSP.

While entering this website, details such as cell phone number, etc., are to be entered. Subsequently, they can carry out the corrections (spelling errors) as required in the name, address, date of birth, gender, etc.

Please note that as a proof, any one of the personal identity proofs such as passport, Aadhar card, driver licence or family ration card must also be uploaded while carrying out the above corrections!

Once this is done, the data will be sent to the login of the relevant polling booth officer. Once the officer opens this data, he/she will make a list of the corrections and visit the residences of the respective voters and personally verify the data given by the concerned voter.

If everything is ok, the corrections will be confirmed.

This facility for the voters to correct the errors by themselves will be available until 30th September.

Subsequently, the draft final voters’ list will be released on 15th October. This will contain the corrections carried by the voters. The voters have to check and verify the same. ‘
