The Chennai Metro city traffic police have informed that the 2-way traffic permitted and on trial over the last 2-days will continue as a trial today (Friday, 13th September) as well.

With the completion of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, after a period of 7 years, 2-way traffic has been reintroduced in the section from GP Road to Whites Road, on a trial basis for 2 days (11th & 12th September).

The vehicle drivers are happy on this and have conveyed the positive results.

However, the conditions of the Whites Road and Anna Salai are not in a condition fit for driving full of bumps and troughs! This might lead to accidents.  Further, it has been observed that the traffic has been affected in the sections where 2-way traffic has been restored.

Especially, the traffic police are facing a hard task trying to control the heavy traffic congestion encountered at the Whites Road junction.

A blockade has been set up in order that the vehicles coming from Teynampet are not allowed to turn at the Whites Road junction. As per the revised traffic control, these vehicles coming from Teynampet will have to take the route of the road near TVS and then via Whites Road, Anna Salai, Royppettah Clock Tower, and then Gopalapuram.

The traffic police have informed that the trial continues for the 3rd day today as well (Friday, 13th September).
