Some traffic changes have been introduced in Thiruvallur High Road due to the Railway over-bridge construction work at Pattabhram.

There is a Railway Gate ‘L.C.-.- 2’ located at Pattabhiram, Chennai-Thiruvallur High Road. In order to reduce the heavy traffic congestion in this location, a fund of Rs. 33.48 Crores were allotted for the railway overhead construction in the financial year 2010-11.

However, with the prices of the basic items increasing, a financial review was conducted and a revised fund of Rs. 52.11 Crores was allotted.

Subsequently, the construction of the Railway overbridge in the above location commenced last year.  In this 2-way overbridge, 6-lanes will be provided in either way.

Presently, the pillars have been erected in section Avadi-Thiruvallur and the setting up of concrete decks over the pillars is in progress. Out of this, on the Westside of the track, 3 concrete decks have been set up.  There will be a total of 16 concrete decks like this.

As the project work is in progress in full swing, the State Highway Department officials have informed that traffic changes have been introduced in the CTH Road. Details:

‘We have introduced certain changes in the traffic in order that the railway overbridge construction work progresses without any problems.  The vehicles proceeding from Avadi to Thiruvallur will have to proceed via Tandurai overbridge, Amudhurmedu, Sithukkadu, and outer ring road back towards Road.

In a similar vein, the light commercial vehicles will have to proceed via Tandurai Overbridge, Mariamman Temple Street to reach the Outer Ring Road and then to CTH Road.

The vehicle proceeding from Thiruvallur to Avadi and the other vehicles such as autos and 2-wheelers can use the regular route.
