The latest news is the students studying in the classes 5 and 8 in Tamil Nadu would be writing the board examinations and it would include the entire syllabus. This would be similar to the annual examinations. This has been confirmed by sources now.

The stress for the students of class 5 and 8 in TN would be more now.

It is worth mentioning that after the academic year was split into 3 terms the TN state board has been following a tri-semester pattern up to class 8 till now. From the portions of the syllabus of that particular term, the questions would be asked in the examinations and students had to answer those only. Many teachers have pointed out that the existing third term could be considered as the board examination because the announcement was done in the middle of the academic year. In addition to this, the books were also printed as per the tri semester pattern.

An official spoke about how if the board exam was conducted only for the third term then the teachers might concentrate the only on the third term portions. He concluded that the board examination would be like an annual examination and would have questions from all the 3 terms.

In a few days of time, detailed GO including the time table, exam scheme, and syllabus would be released. It must be noted that the school education department last Friday announced board exams for the students studying in classes 5 and 8 after reversing its no-detention policy. The school education department relaxed the detention rule for the first 3 years to enable the teachers and students to adapt to the new system. It was pointed out by many headmasters of the schools that conducting board exams for 100 marks would put stress on the students.

Head master belonging to a government middle school spoke about how as per the present system 60 marks were allotted for summative assessment and 40 marks for the formative assessment. He added that the official must convert 60 marks to 100 marks or should conduct final examination for 60 marks only. Some teachers do not want class 5 students to write board examinations.

It was pointed out by an official that the board exams for class 5 would not have any drastic changes. The students have to write the answer in the question papers. It must be noted that the questions would be fill in the blanks type or choose the correct answer type.
