Many people visit their native to be with their families and relatives etc on the occasion of Diwali in the state of TN. Hence there would be heavy rush in the bus stands during Diwali.

To clear this rush, the government of TN has planned to operate more than 19,500 special buses during the Diwali season. It is now said that between 24th October and 26th October as many as 10,940 special buses would depart from Chennai to other parts of TN. As many as 8,310 special buses would be operated from other parts of TN to the Chennai city. This was as per Mr. M.R.Vijayabaskar, state transport minister. On Thursday, a review meeting was conducted and in that meeting, the transport minister informed about the special buses.

Special counters would soon be set up at multiple boarding points in the Chennai city and reservation for the tickets would start n 23rd of October 2019 at these counters. The information is online booking of tickets could be done by using Redbus app, Paytm or busindia app. Government’s official website www.tnstc.in could also be used to book the tickets. Three years back, temporary traffic diversions were introduced and this would be followed this year also.

It must be taken into account that a temporary bus stand would be set up at Tambaram and people going to places like Thanjavur and Kumbakonam via Vikravandi, Panruti could catch their buses here. Point is from Koyambedu there would be special buses going to southern districts in TN.

Buses bound for places like Hosur, Arcot, Vellore, and Kancheepuram would start from Poonamallee bus stand. From the K.K. Nagar bus stop, there would be buses heading towards places like Cuddalore and Chidambaram via Puducherry. The state transport minister later spoke about how from Madhavaram bus stand buses going to AP would start and how during the Ayudha puja festival also similar changes would be carried out.

It is superb to mention here that after the review meeting the state transport minister Mr. M.R.Vijayabaskar distributed the pending retirement benefits to the employees of the state transport corporation.
