2 more Municipal Corporations in TN

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has announced that the town of Dindigul and Thanjavur will now be Municipal Corporations. With this upgradation, Tamil Nadu will have twelve Municipal Corporations in all.
The other Municipal Corporations are Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Erode, Vellore, Tuticorin and Tirunelveli.
She also announced that to maintain the financial details of the Municipalities and Municipal Corporations, the Tamil Nadu Municipalities Accounts Services would be launched. Karaikudi and Sivakasi will now be Special Grade Municipalities where they were Selection Grade Municipalities earlier.
