For improving the connectivity, MTC does this now

The news that has emerged out is MTC has rationalized its services by making changes in the routes for Vadapalani, K.K. Nagar, IT corridor and Vandalur areas.

Few bus services have been short terminated for creating new services plus renumbering of buses for various routes have also been carried out. The information collected is to increase the accessibility in highly demanded routes identified by MTC through a study, changes were carried out. This was as per the officials of MTC.

In the month of February, the study was initiated after the patronage fell below 33 lakhs a day from 46 lakhs in January. It is important to note that buses were introduced in the routes like 91C (Velachery and Vandalur Zoo), 66G (Kundrathur to Guduvanchery), 570V (Vadapalani to Kelambakkam), 19V (Sholinganallur to Vandalur) and 55K (Kandigai to Guduvanchery).

Point is about 15 buses having route number 570 S (CMBT TO Kelambakkam) have been transferred to Vadapalani and operated as 570V (Vadapalani to Kelambakkam). A senior MTC official later brought out that based on the demand to improve connectivity with IT corridor the move was made.

The official also hinted that changes were also made to decongest CMBT having frequent traffic snarls. The route number 11 H operated from Broadway to Iyyappanthangal has been converted to 11G (Broadway to KK. Nagar) and extended up to iyyapanthagal. It is now said that 11H buses would be operated up to Iyappanthangal having 11G name board. To improve the patronage along the IT corridor and GST Road, 2 new services were created short terminating the buses.
