Applications to avail Amma 2-wheeler Scheme can be submitted from today

An announcement has been released that working women residing in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Metro City Corporation to avail the ‘Amma 2-wheeler Scheme’ can apply today (Tuesday, 24th September).
A subsidy is given for buying a 2-wheeler for the working women on behalf of the Tamil Nadu State Government. Under this scheme, the working women can apply for the subsidy to buy 2-wheeler in the Ward Offices of the Chennai Metro Corporation from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM from 24th September (Tuesday, today) with the proofs of address, Driving Licence, and Income certificates.
Qualification: The applicants must have studied up to a minimum of 8th Standard and must be in the age group 18-40. The applicant must have the driving license and the annual income must not exceed Rs. 2.50 Lakhs.
Priority will be accorded to the destitute working women, young widows, differently-abled women, unmarried women aged above 35 years, women belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Tribe or ancient Tribes and trans-sexual.
The women selected under this scheme will be given a subsidy of either 50% of the price of the 2-wheeler or Rs. 25000 whichever is less. In case the vehicle has been bought through a bank loan, this loan would be released by payment to the bank.
It is noteworthy that suitable amendments have been made in the Motor Vehicles Act to release the bank loan taken when buying a 2-wheeler to pay wither 50% of the vehicle price or Rs. 25000 whichever is lesser.
