Import of crude oil up in August

As compared within the last 4 months, the largest quantity of crude oil has been imported in the month of August.

This information has been brought out by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), which functions under the central ministry of Petroleum.

India has secured the 3rd place in the list of maximum crude oil importing countries. The import has gone up by 5.5% over the last 1 year.

During July, the import of crude oil was 19.34 million tons. In August, this has increased by 1,7% as compared and was 19.66 million tons.

The trend of rising import is similar to what was done in the year 2011. A maximum of 306000 tons of crude oil has been imported in August. The import of oil products has shot up by 23.2% in the last year.

At the same time, the import of diesel, since December has reduced by 55%. It has been 51000 tons.

Since April 2011, the import of petrol has been on the rise every year. However, this has reduced since last July to the extent of 29%. 174000 tons of petrol has been imported.
