In the month of August in 2019, the bicycle sharing system launched in places like Thruvanmiyur and Kasturibai Nagar in Chennai and it made huge noises. This bicycle sharing system was launched to improve access to Chennai’s rapid transit modes and city bus services and to ensure seamless connectivity for the Chennai residents.

It is now said that this bicycle sharing system would be making its presence felt in Koyambedu and its surrounding areas also. The point is Chennai Corporation is involved in this. It is important to note that the civic body is now in the process of identifying new locations for docking stations in Koyambedu-Vadapalani stretch. By this, it would be adding more bicycles to the already existing fleet of over 350 bicycles in as many as 37 docking stations across Chennai.

The important point to be noted is the users would have to download the ‘Smart bike Mobility’ app and enter the bike number or scan the QR code for renting a bike. There were few issues faced by the cyclists and the cyclists now want the civic body to sort out these issues.

It was pointed out by a cyclist, IT professional, that after he had booked a bike it failed to unlock and he was unable to return the bike because while returning the cyclist has to lock it again. Another cyclist mentioned about how contacting the customer during issues was of no use as the call doesn’t go through, disconnect automatically and nobody responds for the messages.
