Eminent Bollywood actor and veteran Pran has been selected for the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. The Award is the highest honour in the field of Indian cinema.
The 93 year old has a career that spanned over 300 films. He made his debut in 1948 in the film ‘Ziddi’ and went on to be a successful and feared villain. He also proved himself in the genres of comedy and drama and is noted for his roles in ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Zanjeer’.
‘His impressive performances have bestowed an entirely unique new dimension to the negative and character roles in Hindi cinema’, said a statement that was released by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
