The Archaeological Department has informed that with the 5th Phase of the Archeological project at Keezhadi having been completed, the items taken out will be displayed in a special exhibition from 23rd October.
The archaeological project at Keezhadi in Sivagangai district commenced on 13th June and has drawn to a close on 13th October.
In this archaeological effort, items/features such double-walls, direct walls, water tanks, frozen well, brick construction material, and some pieces of jewelry in the form of roulettes, pottery items, items made of the hot sand mixture, pottery items inscribed with Tamil letters, household utility items, ‘Soothupavala’ items ( a form of precious stone), etc. constituting to more than 800 items used 2600 years ago have been dugout.
With the 5th Phase of the Archeological project coming to a close, arrangements have been made to display all the dug-out items on 23rd October in Madurai Tamil Sangam Building Complex.
There is news from the Archeological Department that the exhibition will be from 23rd October.
Items dug out as detailed above, such as items/features such double-walls, direct walls, water tanks, frozen well, brick construction material, and some pieces of jewelry in the form of roulettes, pottery items, items made of the hot-sand mixture, pottery items inscribed with Tamil letters, household utility items, ‘Soothupavala’ items (a form of precious stone), etc. constituting to more than 800 items used 2600 years ago will be on display. The brick constructions would be photographed/drawn and categorized and displayed.
The exhibition, commencing on 23rd December will be extended as per the interest shown by the public. The dug portions are all set to be closed in a day or two.
