There was heavy downpour up to early morning in the urban areas of Guindy, Eekkattuthangal, T Nagar, Anna Nagar, Thiruvallikkeni, Airport, Pallavaram, Anakaputhur, Perungalathur, Chromepet, Tambaram, Vandalur, Nungambakkam, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Vadapalani, Pammal, Avadi, Ambathur, Padi, Ayanavaram, Egmore, and Mogappair and in most suburban areas as well.
With the heavy rains in Chennai Metro City, low-lying areas were flooded with rainwater making it difficult for the vehicle drivers. In this situation, Chennai District collector Seethalakshmi has announced that the schools will function as usual.
As at 5.30 AM today morning (Thursday, 17th October), 6 cm rain has been recorded at Poonamallee and 5 cm in the Chembarambakkam lake water reservoir area.
