24 hour highest rainfall recorded in Chennai now, more rains to come

The weather experts have now surprised many now. They have mentioned that Chennai city registering the highest 24-hour rainfall of 101.6 mm in the season was just the beginning.

The important point is Chennai city would receive more rains in the coming days. It has been forecasted by the weather experts that a weather system might form over the Bay of Bengal and it might bring more rains in the Chennai city.

For the next 48 hours, the RMC of Chennai has predicted light to moderate rainfall in some places. It is important to note that the trough that brought heavy rains in Chennai has fizzled out. The temperature of the day is likely to rise to a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is likely to hover around 25 degrees.

It was later pointed out by some meteorologists that the wind and moisture would concentrate the low-pressure area over the southeast Arabian Sea that would intensify around 20th October.

The sensational piece of information is by the next week low-pressure area is likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal off TN. This would bring heavy spells of rains that would surpass the present record. It has been mentioned by Skymet Weather in an online post that Chennai would surpass its monthly average rainfall in 2019.

It must be noted that Chennai city’s average monthly rainfall is 315.6 mm for October and till now it has received 142 mm of rainfall. Information is in the last 10 years the 101.6 mm rainfall recorded in the Nungambakkam observatory is one of the four 24-hour highest in October month.
