Veteran film music director T.K. Ramamurthy passed away in city hospital on Wednesday. He was 91 years old. Mr. Ramamurthy was part of the duo Viswanathan – Ramamurthy that gave many hit songs in and around the 1960s.
Noted among their repertoire is the music for ‘Karnan’, the story of the film’s namesake from the Mahabharata, which starred thespians Sivaji Ganesan and N.T. Rama Rao.
Mr. Ramamurthy was also a violinist. He parted ways with his partner Viswanathan in the 60s and gave music solo to a few films. He was recently honoured by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa during the anniversary function of Jaya TV.
