President Ramnath Govind had ordered on 30th October appointing the current Patna High Court Chief Justice Amareshwar Pratap Sahi (A P Sahi) as the new Chief Justice of the Chennai High Court.
Subsequently, the vent of the new Chief Justice of the Chennai High Court assuming office was conducted at the Chennai Guindy Raj Bhavan at 9.30 AM yesterday (Monday, 11th November)
Tamil Nadu governor Panwarilal Purohit administered the oath of service to the new Chief Justice of the Chennai High Court, A P Sahi. He then presented a bouquet and greeted the new Chief Justice.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy, Legislative Assembly speaker Dhanapal, Ministers, Chennai High Court Senior judges Vineet Kothari, R Subbaiah, M. Sathyanarayanan, and N Kirupakaran participated
Chief Secretary Shanmugam, DGP Tripathi, Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan and other senior officials also participated.
Subsequently, in the welcome program, Advocate General Vijay Narayanan delivered the welcome address.
Further, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Bar Council President P S Amal Raj, the vice-president of the Chennai High Court advocates, R. Sudha, the president of Madras Bar Association, A R L Sundaresan, the president of the women lawyers’ association Luicelle Ramesh, the president of the Law Association Senguttuvan addressed.
While thanking the greetings from all above officials, the new Chief Justice A P Sahi addressed:
‘Tamil Nadu is a special state highly developed in culture. The state had given the endless number of treasures such as The divine saint Thiruvalluvar, the Mathematics genius Ramanujam, etc! I am indeed honored and proud that I am now the Chief Justice on the Chennai High Court. I am thankful for this! Prominent roles are played by the judges and advocates in the country’s growth. I hope to get the maximum support from all in my new position and the duties.’
