An amount of Rs 600 crores sanctioned by the TN government for 6 new medical colleges

Soon, people belonging to the districts such as Dindigul, Namakkal, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Nilgris, and Tiruppur could feel happy and proud.

The information got is the TN state government has identified locations in these above-said districts for setting up of 6 new medical colleges in TN. For starting the construction works, an amount of Rs 600 crores has been sanctioned by the TN government.

It is now said that by these new medical colleges the number of MBBS seats would go to 900 in the future. By the year 2021, the TN government would begin admissions to these 6 new medical colleges. Important information is the lands have been identified and transferred for establishing new medical colleges at the 6 above-said districts. 

The proposal of the directorate of medical education or DME was examined by the government and Rs 100 crores was sanctioned for the construction of each medical college. This was revealed by the health secretary Beena Rajesh. As many as 6 identical orders regarding sanctioning of the money were issued on Tuesday.

For the building of each medical college, the amount that would be needed is Rs 325 crores and the TN government would contribute 40% of share and the rest 60% share would be got from the center.

It must be noted that new medical colleges are being constructed inland parcels of 9 acres at Kooraikondu in Virudhunagar. 11.28 acres plot in Tiruppur town, Raakiapaayam group of Nallur village in Tiruppur district, 25 acres in a village in Udagamandalam, 8 acres in Adiyanthoo village in Dindigul district, 10 acres in Siluvampatti village in Namakkal district and 9 acres at Pattinamkathan village at Ramanathapuram district. This was as per the GO.  Important information collected island has been transferred to the department of health and family welfare.

The approval of the technical evolution committee of the center has been obtained by the TN state government. An essentiality certificate has been issued for starting new medical colleges. The total number of seats that would be available for the students would be pushed to 4150 seats with each medical college offers as many as 150 seats.  

It was pointed out by Dr. Narayanababu, DME that the main objective was to complete the construction of medical colleges and seek permission from the Medical Council of India or MCI to start admissions for the first year MBBS by the year 2021 in all the 6 colleges.
