There are many commuters who leave their vehicles at the parking lots at Chennai metro stations. These commuters are now facing payment issues at these parking lots.

It must be noted that some time ago Chennai Metro announced that it would accept payment for parking only through smart cards. The point is those commuters who have trip passes cannot use smart cards to make their payments and they have to separately buy a smart card and then pay. This has irritated many commuters.

A resident belonging to Nanganallur who travels to Thousand Lights every day mentioned about how the authorities have not thought about those who have trip passes. He added that a facility that would allow even the trip pass users to pay should have been incorporated by the authorities. He expressed his unhappiness of having 2 cards.

It has been brought out by sources that there were some issues regarding payment. The point to be noted is the machine present at the parking lot doesn’t deduct the money showing the vehicle was not in the parking lot. Sometimes, machines at the parking lots overcharge the commuters also.

It was later revealed by an official belonging to CMRL that they have been identifying the issues associated with the machines in the parking lots and trying to resolve them.
