Getting driving licenses was never easy and people faced many difficulties in the past.
Now, everything has changed and getting a driving license or DL, as well as LLR, has become easy.
It must be noted that in the past the difficulty in getting DL or LLR started from the application stage. Point is those days people found it difficult to even get an application form that was sold outside the RTO offices or Regional Transport Offices. In the year 2018, Sarathi software (part of pan India Pari Vahan software) was launched.
Information gathered is after the launch of this software in 2018 the system of issuing LLR’s, DL’s and renewal of DL’s have become easy with all transactions including the payment of fees completely made online.
It must be taken into account that this site could be browsed at http://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in.
Point to be noted is presently it is possible to get the LLR’s etc by filling up the forms and uploading the documents for LLR (first stage for getting driving license) by means of this Sarathi software.
It is said that after filling up the online application time slot would be allotted for visiting RTO for the purpose of fulfilling necessary formalities. An applicant must provide his/her LLR number and the database could be assessed by the RTO’s. This would be for getting permanent driving licenses.
To help direct different applicants to the respective officials, all RTOs in Chennai numbering 24 (Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur included) are posted with help desk personnel at the entrance.
At the allotted time, when the LLR applicants visit RTO’s then their documents would be checked by an official and physical verification would also be done. In the next step, the applicants would be made to write a written test of traffic regulations and signs. Later, they would be sent to take a photograph for the issuance of temporary driving licenses.
It must be taken into account that a section of residents believes that going through driving schools guarantees LLR’s and DL’s. The process of issuing licenses has become simple and this was as per some RTO officials.
It was brought out by a state transport authority official that many technological developments have been taking place in RTOS across TN. He highlighted that CCTV cameras were installed at the RTOs. He threw light on how awareness posters have been put up to help applicants fill in the applications through Sarathi software. Information is verification of driving skills by Motor vehicle inspectors has become strict now.
