On and off spells of rains to continue in Chennai

According to the weathermen, it is now clear that the city of Chennai would continue to receive on and off spells of rains for the next 2 days. It must be taken into account that this on and off rains has been providing a huge relief for the people belonging to Chennai now.

The information collected is this weekend could be the starting of another dry spell and it might continue till the middle of the next week.  It is said that a pulse thrown in from the typhoon that made landfall in the Philippines on Tuesday might bring some rains.

In the next 2 days of time, the sky over Chennai is likely to be cloudy and light to moderate rains or thunderstorms are likely to occur in some places. The point to be noted is the maximum temperature and the minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

It was mentioned by Mr. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, that the rain we are getting is convective and the existing trough is feeble. On Wednesday, many parts of Chennai and its suburbs received short and intense spells of rains. It is important to note that Nungambakkam recorded 11.5 mm rains and Meenambakkam recorded 20.5 mm rains.

Places in Chennai such as Sholinganallur recorded 55 mm rains, Tambaram recorded 44mm of rains, Taramani recorded 35 mm rains, Poonamallee received 34mm rains, Major localities in Chennai like Guindy, KK. Nagar etc recorded 10 mm rain.

It must be noted that good rainfall in the suburbs in the last 24 hours did not create any impact on the rainfall status for the season. An official later spoke about how as of now there is not enough moisture in the air and cold winds are blowing. Therefore, the system might not be formed now.
