Many differently able persons face issues going inside the bus in TN. To help these persons and to make their travel smooth in the buses, the government of TN would be launching newly designed special buses.
The sensational information is differently able persons would be able to wheel their tricycles or wheelchairs straight into these buses with the provision of ramp facilities in these new buses.
On Friday, a five day meeting with the directors of various transport corporations concluded at the Secretariat in Chennai and the meeting was chaired by Mr. B. Chandra Mohan, principal secretary of the transport department. The meeting saw the presence of heads of 8 state transport corporations.
Important point is currently 10 buses were being operated on specific routes for the benefit of the differently able in the Chennai city. It was revealed by Mr. Chandra Mohan that in the last 3 years as many as 4802 new transport buses were launched by the government and it also included special buses. An amount of Rs 1442 crores has been spent for this. Another 2000 buses would be purchased and these buses would also join the state government’s fleet of buses. This was announced by the chief minister of TN in the assembly.
As per an official release it is revealed that steps were taken to launch BS-VI complaint buses under the transport corporations. The information gathered is apart from the 500 e-buses in the main cities as many as 2213 BS-VI complaint buses would also be introduced at a cost of Rs 1580 crores in the first phase. It is said that a project agreement between the state government and Germany based development bank KfW was signed recently.
Since the bus equipped with passenger friendly features were preferred by the passengers, Mr. Chandra Mohan appealed to the officials to properly maintain the buses.
