Tamil Nadu state Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy flagged off the first-ever electric auto in the country today (Friday, 29th November).

Known as ‘M Auto’, this 3-wheeler operates on electrical energy supplied through batteries.

This project is as per the agreement signed during the recent World Investors’ Meet.

This is especially noteworthy as this electric auto project is as per the scheme, known as ‘Masilla Thamizhagam’ (totally pollution-free Tamil Nadu), and it is the 1st ever electric auto to be operated in the country!

Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy inaugurated the distribution of the Pongal special gift package to the family ration cardholders. In the 1st Phase of this programme, the Chief Minister gave the Pongal special gift package with  Rs. 1000 cash to 5 families of the rice family ration cardholders. It must be mentioned here again that this Pongal special gift pack with Rs. 1000 cash is given to the rice family ration cardholders in order to facilitate the important Tamil Festival of Pongal in a grand way.

This inaugural event is in progress at the Chennai Chief Secretariat today (Friday, 29th November).

The Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Food Minister Kamaraj, Revenue Minister R. P. Udhayakumar, Cooperatives Minister Sellur Raju and minister for school education K. A. Sengottaiyan participated in these events.
