The allotment of quotas for local elections - mayor post released!

The state government of Tamil Nadu has released the quota allotment for the posts of mayors in the local elections on 11th December.

- Avadi
- Thanjavur
- Hosur
- Salem
- Tirupur
The Thoothukudi Corporation Mayor seat has been allotted for Scheduled Caste (General) category.
The Vellore Corporation mayor post has been allotted for the scheduled category women.
Prior to this release, the Tamil Nadu Election Commission Officer Palaniswamy held a meeting with the department officers. A review was conducted regarding the arrangements made for the local elections. Subsequently, the above list was released and in a notification, the election commission informed that the above quota allotment for the local elections is as per the census was taken in the year 2011. The local elections will be held as per the High Court order.
