Further, 12,660 tons onion imported!

The central government has made an agreement to import another 12600 tons of onion in order to overcome the acute shortage in meeting the demand for onions.
It is expected that this 2nd consignment of onion will arrive by the end of this month.
The price of onion has soared and stabilized at the sky-high process! In order to boos the stock and regulate the soaring onion price, onion is being imported from abroad through Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation of India (MMTC).
Recently, onion was imported from Egypt. However, the public response for this has not been so good! In this situation, as per the central government order, MMTC has signed an agreement to import of an additional 12660 tons of onion.
The officials informed that this may arrive by 27th December and the agreement has been signed for an import of total 30000 tons of onion.
