In Chennai, the private bus fares have increased now

The ticket fares for private buses have increased now in TN. It is worthy to mention here that the government buses collect Rs 400 to Rs 800 as fares but the private bus operators charge 3 times from those who travel to southern and western parts of TN.
The shocking information that has come out now is ticket prices for a person travelling from Chennai to Nagercoil is Rs 3000 in an air-conditioned sleeper bus. During the working days or weekends, the fare used to be Rs 700 to Rs 1500 for a single person. It is now said that many depend on tatkal etc because the tickets get sold fast once the ticket counter gets opened.
A resident belonging to Maraimalainagar spoke his heart out. He explained about how the buses starting from Koyambedu becomes full when they reach Perungalathur or Kattankolathur etc and how it was better to travel in the private buses inspite of high ticket rates. Many passengers find huge discomfort now and the state transport department authorities have not taken any steps to solve this issue to help the passengers.
The important point is the government would be able to take action against the offenders only when the laws are amended to regulate the bus fares.
