The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has released the final list of the contestants in the local elections. The local Panchayat elections are scheduled to be conducted in 27 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu on 27th and 30th December.
Accordingly, the filing of nominations to contest in the local Panchayat elections commenced in the 27 districts. 302994 candidates filed their nominations contesting for 91975 posts. Out of this, 3633 nominations were rejected after scrutiny. Further, 48891 candidates withdrew their nominations.
18570 contestants won seats without any competition.
Finally, 231890 candidates are contesting.
209847 nominations were filed for the 76746 Village Administration Panchayat members’ seats available. Out of these, 1994 nominations were rejected after scrutiny.18818 nominations were withdrawn. 18137 seats were won without any competitors.
So, 170898 contestants participate in the Village Administration Panchayat Ward member election in the final contest.
For the 9624 Village Administration Council Presidents’ posts, 54757 nominations were filed. Out of this, 753 nominations were rejected after scrutiny. Further, 983 nominations were withdrawn. Accordingly, 410 seats are being won without any contest. 35611 candidates are contesting for the posts of Village Administration Council Presidents’ posts,
For the 5090 posts of the Village administration Panchayat Ward members’ posts, 34398 nominations have been made for the available 5090 posts. Out of these, 787 nominations were rejected after scrutiny. 10812 nominations were withdrawn.
Contestants were selected without any competition for 23 Village Administration Panchayat members. 22776 candidates are contesting for the 5067 posts for village administration Panchayat Ward members.
3993 nominations were received for the 515 district administration ward members’ posts. After scrutiny, 109 nominations were rejected. 1278 nominations were withdrawn. Accordingly, there are 2605 constants for 515 posts!
As the final list of contestants has been released, the election fever has reached a feverish pitch!
