Impersonation during NEET had created many issues in the past. Many steps are being taken now to make sure that this issue doesn’t happen again. The Indian government has been issuing Aadhaar cards to the people of India and these cards have unique numbers. This card is being utilized in many fields now for the sake of peoples benefit is known.

For the medical students, the health department is planning to introduce bio-metric enabled attendance system linked with Aadhaar card. It must be taken into account that NTA or National Testing Agency has sought permission from the centre to use Aadhaar data for NEET 2020. It is revealed that this move would keep a check on impersonation and ensure that those who take the NEET are the ones who have attended classes.

It is known that earlier DME was making efforts to introduce bio-metric attendance systems linked with Aadhaar number for the teaching faculty. This was to prevent the duplication of the teaching faculty. An order was also issued from MCI Board of Governors in this aspect.

Impersonation cases have once again resurfaced and therefore the health department is planning to introduce new system for the MBBS students from the first year.

At all the hospitals and institutions of DME, DPH and Directorate of Medical and rural Health Services, Aadhaar-inked bio-metric fingerprint attendance machines would be installed.

There are some doctors who feel that this plan might not serve the purpose. It was pointed out that few medical colleges have bio-metric attendance for the faculty and majority of the doctor’s fake fingerprints. It is known that NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test began in the year 2013 and is an entrance examination for those who want to study MBBS and BDS in the government as well as in the private medical and dental colleges in India.
