The central government has granted permission to set up battery charging centres for the electric (battery-driven) vehicles.
Due to the dire necessity to import petrol and petroleum products, the central government incurs very huge expenses running into thousands of crores in Indian Rupees!
Apart from this, the usage of petrol/diesel leads to heavy pollution in the environment!
As battery-driven electric vehicles would cause no pollution, the citizens have been given strong suggestions to change over to battery-driven cars, bikes, etc. The central government, for its major role, has been initiating activities encouraging usage of battery-driven electric vehicles.
In this scenario, the central government has granted approval to set up 2636 battery-charging centres in 62 cities throughout the country.
