The annual event of the grand Mylapore Festival has been hugely popular winning appreciation and attention from a whole lot of citizens!
This year (2020), Mylapore festival is scheduled to commence on 9th January and conclude on 12th January.
Stalls and stages will be set up around the Mylapore Lord Kapaleeswarar temple and performances of art such as dance, drama, music, vocal singing, folk-dances, traditional food items and dress materials will be performed.
Un bounded enthusiasm will be shown by the eager participants enjoying the festival every moment.
The main event of the Mylapore Festival, ‘The Kolam’ (Rangoli) contest is scheduled on 11th and 12th January.
Due to intense competition, it is indeed a veritable feast for the eyes to have a look at the various colourful and high-level artistic presentation of the Koalms throughout the roads/streets.
Contests will be conducted for the traditional old games such as ‘Thayam’, ‘Pallaankuzhi’, ‘Aadu-puli ‘aattam, etc.
A photographic exhibition will be on display on the topic, ‘Good Old Mylapore’! Another interesting scheduled is the ‘Heritage Walk’ to identify the old traditional houses in the locality and the various food shops.
