A revised syllabus has been introduced by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group-1 Examinations.

TNPSC has announced that henceforth, the Group-1 Preliminary Examinations will be conducted on the basis of this revised syllabus.

TNPSC revised the syllabus for Group-2 and Group-2A examinations during last September.

TNPSC explained that giving the due importance for the Tamil language and culture, lessons have been added including the traditions, culture, Social Science movements,  history of Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu’s Growth Management, etc.

With this, a situation arose where those who do not know Tamil would not compete and pass.

In this scenario, TNPSC went ahead announcing that this revised syllabus would be applicable for the Group-1 Examinations as well.

In the revised syllabus, the lessons have been reduced in some subjects including History and instead of lessons giving the importance to Tamil such as Thirukkural and other literature-based.

As it is the revised syllabus totally (100%) synchronises with the recently revised syllabus for Group-2 examinations, it is informed that the candidates who prepare for Group-2 examinations can easily manage to attempt Group-1 preliminary examinations as well!

At the same time, TNPSC has also announced that there are no changes in the syllabus for the TNPSC Group-1 Main Examination and the old syllabus continues as such!
