New in Chennai Metro City: A/c buses at lower fares!

Air-conditioned buses are being operated in the Chennai Metro City bus routes! The air-conditioned buses are designed on behalf of the Metro Transport Corporation. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, the state transport minister Vijayabhaskar and other officials visited and inspected these air-conditioned buses.
In this situation, 48 air-conditioned buses were operated at various Chennai Metro City routes at lower fares from yesterday (Friday, 10th January).
The cost of the bus is Rs. 36 Lakhs. 40 seats are available and there is provision for up to 20 standing passengers.
The minimum fare for the Volvo buses running in the city is fixed at Rs. 29.
In the present other buses, the minimum fare is Rs. 15.
The fare for the air-conditioned buses from Koyambedu to Siruseri is fixed at Rs. 60. For Tambaram to Thiruvanmiyur, it is fixed at Rs. 45.
Air-conditioned buses are also being operated in route numbers - A1, 19B, 70V, 102, and 95.
