The State Government of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has made an all-important appeal to the public on the occasion of Bhogi and the Pongal festival!

It is traditional to burn old items on the eve of Pongal to ring in the new month with new items.

However, one has to be watchful in this regard to burning:

Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has spelt out a slogan in Tamil ‘PUGAI NAMAKKU PAGAI’ which is smoke is our enemy.

So, there is an earnest appeal to the citizens not to burn items made of rubber, tyres, and other plastic items!

Thus let us celebrated a ‘smokeless’ Bhogi, Pongal, Mattuppongal, and Kaanum Pongal!

Once again repeating the fervent appeal not to burn the above items which will cause great harm to the environment with heavy pollution!

Here is wishing you all a very very Happy Pongal!
