People visiting the Vandalur zoo would soon be surprised to see 2 tiger cubs, male and female.
As per the authorities of this zoo, these 4-month-old tiger cubs are hale and healthy and are nursed by their mother tiger named Arthi.
At 2 locations on the premises of the zoo, there would be a short video telecast that would be showing these 2 news cubs with their mother. It is now said that these tiger cubs would be named by the chief minister of TN and after which they would be available for public viewing. Out of two tiger cubs, one is white tiger cub.
The video about these tiger cubs would not have any audio and it would show the new tiger cubs actively playing with their mother tiger. This was according to Sudha Ramen, deputy director of Vandalur zoo. CCTV cameras are being used to monitor these tiger cubs ever since they were born.
She explained how the mother would have to nourish the tiger cubs for 4 months atleast and how it is crucial. During this period, the tiger cubs would not be displayed for the public. It must be taken into account that the colostrum milk provided by the mother tiger would help in the production of antibodies and it would strengthen the tiger cub immunity.
In the past, there have been other cases where the tigress had rejected her own cubs and refused to nurse them. In such cases, the zoo authorities have successfully hand-reared the tiger cubs. Arthi is a seven-year-old Bengal tiger and is a very good and caring mother. The deputy director of Vandalur zoo finally mentioned that it was Arthi’s third litter and no animal keeper was allowed near the enclosure where Arthi was kept for the delivery.
