The students belonging to government aided schools must have exposure to the state-of-art-facilities on par with the students belonging to the private schools. This is very important for the development of the students.
With the above mentioned objective, the Atal Tinkering Lab was inaugurated on 26th January 2019 in the Ambattur based government aided P.J. Gupta High School. In the year 1936, this school was started and since then it has been providing free and affordable education to the under privileged children in and around Ambattur. There are about 600 students studying in this school.
On Sunday, Ambattur constituency MLA, Mr. V. Alexander inaugurated Atal Tinkering Lab at this school. By this lab, the students would have space for innovation and they would grow. This was as per the school correspondent Mr. Ashish Gupta.
He explained about how the lab would be a step in building a better future for the students. He expressed his happiness regarding the lab and said it was hands on methodology and the need of the hour. The personal as well as professional skills for the students would be taught by this lab.
Set up at a cost of Rs 10 lakhs, the lab would receive an amount f Rs 2 lakhs for maintenance sake from the school annually. For the sake of cultivating scientific temper among middle school students by motivating them to understand and innovate in STEM or Science Technology Engineering and Maths, the centrally funded ATL is an initiative by Niti Aayog.
Information is lab would come up in 1500 sq mt and it would have robotic equipments, 3D printers plus computers and other state-of-art technologies. One important factor for setting up of Atal tinkering lab in a school is the school must have 250 students studying science and out of those 50 percent must be girl students.
