Grand consecration of Thanjavur Big temple with a crescendo of Om Namachivaya chant!

Tens of thousands of devotees participated in the sacred consecration of the Thanjavur Big Temple!

The consecration festival was started with the ‘Yajamana Anugnai’ event on 27th January.

Subsequently, ‘Mudhal Kala Yaga Poojas’ commenced in the evening on 1st February. After this, 2nd Kala Poojas were performed on the morning of 2nd February and the 3rd Kala Poojas performed on the same day evening.

The 4th Kala poojas were performed on 3rd February morning and the 5th Kala Poojas performed during the evening. The 6th Kala poojas were performed on 4th February morning. The 7th Kala poojas were performed on the same day evening.

Subsequently, in the early morning at 4.30 AM today morning (Wednesday, 5th February), 8th Kala Poojas were performed. At 7.00 PM, ‘Maha Poornahuthi was performed. At 7.25 Am, the arrival and setting up of the ‘thirukkalasangal’ were performed.

After this, at 9.30 AM, ‘Kudamuzhukku’ was performed in all the temple towers including the ‘Rajagopuram’ and later, ‘kudamuzhukku’ was performed on the deities of Lord Peruvudaiyar and His Consort Goddess Periyanakai was performed and then, Maha Deeparadhani and the distribution of ‘Arut prasadam’(Gods’ offerings to the devotees) were performed.

Around 1000 devotees prayed in the internal corridors of the temple and outside, tens of thousands of devotees participated and prayed.

Similarly, in the locations of the external corridors, Girivalam route, and the overbridge tens of thousands of devotees stood and has Darshan and prayed.

Further, in the surrounding areas, the local residents had climbed to the terrace and had Darshan and offered prayers.  Around 5500 police personnel were deployed in the city of Thanjavur for this grand occasion!

‘Perabhishekham’ will be performed on the deities of Lord Peruvudaiyar along with His Consort Goddess Periyanaki at 6.00 PM. At 8.00 PM, the deities of ‘Panchamurthys’ will be taken on a procession to offer Darshan to the devotees.
