Parents of children with autism issue must thank three persons namely Dr Ramya Moorthy, Mr Srinivasa Moorthy and Subashree Krishnan for their superb efforts.
Chennai based Nimaya Robotics has been trying its best to make a difference in the lives of many children with autism and the above mentioned three persons have played their part in the development of Nimaya Robotics.
A new therapy system named ‘Suprayoga’ was brought to the fore by Nimaya Robotics to help and assist kids with ASD or autism spectrum disorder issue. To enable the use of this new therapy system, Nimaya Robotics has associated with NIEPMD or National Institute for Empowerment of People with Multiple Disabilities.
It was brought out by Mr Himanshu Das, director of NIEPMD that it was the first time in India such a technology has been developed in various IIT’s to work around the problem areas but not n the problem itself.
According to Subashree Krishnan, co-founder of Nimmaya Robotics, MoU has been signed with NIEPMD for the children who are part of NIEPMD these children come from underprivileged backgrounds. She was of the view that the latest technology would be of huge benefit for these children.
Across 5 centres in TN and in Karnataka, pilot testing was carried out with as many as 60 children. Dr Ramya later pointed out that learning in children with disabilities showed about 50 % improvement with the new technology. Learning to grasp information, learning hand-eye coordination etc would be done for the kids with ASD by this Suprayoga.
