A decade back, Thiru-vi-ka park in Shenoy Nagar was closed down and trees were axed for the construction of metro rail. The latest news is by the end of this year 2020 this park would be restored back. A senior official later mentioned about how the CMRL is looking to ready the underground passenger amenities centre under the park in a year’s time.

Metro rail official was hoping that in another 1 year the passenger amenities centre would be ready and by the end of 2020 the park would be readied. It must be taken into account that the construction that was earlier halted is now going well.

More than 12000 saplings have been planted at the 4 corners of the park using Miyawaki method. The park would have 45 varieties of indigenous species also. Walking tracks, benches, parking lots and lights would be there in the park for the sake of people.

Apart from the shopping area and restaurants, the passenger amenities centre spanning 4.2 lakh sqft approximately would have parking space for nearly 600 cars and 1000 motorbikes. The metro rail commuters, those who visit the park plus others would be benefited.

In the year 2011, the park was closed for the Shenoy Nagar underground metro station construction. Information gathered is out of 328 trees in the park 138 trees were cut down and 20 trees were transplanted. It was pointed out by CMRL that they would plant 10 saplings for each tree taken down.
